Steinberg CMC-TP USB Transport Controller
Introducing the CMC series The CMC series is made up of six USB-powered controllers that can be individually combined to form a custom-made Cubase control desk. Whether beat creation, transport control, editing or multi-track mixing, there is the perfect model for every task. Each of the six slim-sized units is unique in its own way and features a dedicated set of illuminated rotary encoders, touch faders or pads — each of them designed to take hands-on control of a specific section in Cubase. Due to the adoption of Cubase’s icons and color scheme, users will instantly feel at home with the workflow. Take control, keep focused and be flexible — the CMC series will tremendously speed up your recording, editing and mixing workflow no matter if you are in the studio or on the go.
From beat creation, to multitrack mixing, over to performing live and in-depth editing — the CMC series offers intuitive USB-controllers for every task. While the CMC-FD provides hands-on control on Cubase’s channel mixer, including sub groups, instrument and FX channels, the CMC-PD is a multi-purpose pad controller best suited to create dynamic grooves and natural percussion patterns. With eight rotary encoders and a set of customizable function buttons, the CMC-QC might be the tool of choice for experimental live performers and creative tweak heads. CMC-CH and CMC-AI are the ultimate solutions for any Cubase user looking for an all-in-one controller to streamline everything from recording to mixing. Plus, the CMC-TP is perfectly suited for precise editing tasks and touch-based DAW control. While each CMC unit is unique in its own way, the combination of multiple controllers offers a cornucopia of custom-made control options.

Top features:
Six unique micro controllers perfectly tailored to Cubase users
Modular approach allows for flexible expansion
Most seamless Cubase integration ever seen
Innovative technology including high-resolution touch fader
Portable due to compact design and USB power
Total modularity
CMC stands for the world’s first truly integrated, modular controller system. Made up of six unique units, each designed for a dedicated purpose, the CMC micro controllers can be individually combined to form a personal Cubase control desk — with up to nine CMC units. With the included joint plate, it is a straightforward matter to fix several CMC units. Plus, you can even combine the PD and FD models with Steinberg’s CC121 Advanced Integration controller, leaving no control request unanswered. For the first time ever, it is possible to individually design a personal controller system that exactly fits your needs.
You can stack up to nine CMC units to form your individual control solution
Highly responsive touch controller with LED-based visual feedback
The CMC-FD, CMC-CH and CMC-TP controllers introduce a newly developed, high-precision touch device that offers a whole new approach to DAW control. While the CMC-FD and CMC-CH house a high-precision touch fader with a resolution of up to 1,024 steps and integrated LED lights, the CMC-TP comes with a multi-functional touch slider. The ultra-high resolution, integrated LED lights for visual feedback and dedicated working modes make this innovative control solution a smart and intuitive addition to any studio and live performance setup.
AI Knob
First introduced with Steinberg’s CC121 Advanced Integration Controller, the revolutionary AI Knob is an exceptionally helpful “point and control” knob. Rather than attempting to replace traditional mouse pointing devices, the AI Knob harnesses the flexibility of a computer mouse to offer unprecedented speed when editing parameters and adjusting settings. The computer mouse is simply moved over the parameter, which is then automatically placed under full precision control through the AI Knob, with no need to make any additional settings in Cubase, any additional software module or on the interface itself.
Visual feedback galore
CMC-QC with backlit rotary encoders
The CMC-QC and CMC-CH units house convenient rotary encoders with green LED lights. The LED brightness varies according to the encoder position: the farther from the center, the brighter the LED. And also the CMC-PD features 16 highly responsive rubber pads with LED-based background lights. Best of all, the lights change colors depending on the velocity level — from green to orange over to red.
Slick and mobile
Compact and light in weight Small in size but big in value, the CMC series are your perfect partner on the road. The units are small enough to fit in your pocket, on a master keyboard or wherever desired. Since the CMC units are powered via USB, you don't need any additional power supply. And with a unique level of handling quality, the CMC series is suited for both crowded live venues and project studios ranging from bedroom to mansion.
AI: Advanced Integration
AI stands for Advanced Integration, being a technology developed in close collaboration between Steinberg and Yamaha. The AI technology allows for a seamless integration of the DAWs developed by Steinberg into the digital audio hardware from Yamaha and Steinberg. AI provides plug-and-play at an as-yet unknown level. The software automatically carries out the required settings of the connected hardware, such as selecting drivers and the remote settings — it couldn’t be easier.
Instant plug and play with Cubase
Each CMC controller features full plug and play with Cubase, requiring no additional setup as a controller device. A swift, one-step installation procedure is all that’s required. Once the installation has been performed, Cubase detects the device when launched and automatically binds the unit into the Cubase production environment. To reflect this, the Ready lamp lights up and the controller is ready to assume control.
Cubase AI 6 included
Each of the CMC units includes an exclusive download version of Cubase AI, a special, compact version of the popular Cubase music production system. Together with one or more CMC units, you have a complete system solution for fine-tuning your music to perfection.

In detail
The high-precision touch-sensitive slider forms the centerpiece of the CMC Transport Controller. This innovative, multi-purpose touch device takes DAW control to a whole new level. Six working modes allow you to jog or shuttle through the project, to tap in the tempo, to scroll, zoom and browse with the convenience of a slide. Now you can control your audio with your fingertips — it’s faster, smoother and more accurate than with the computer mouse. To never get lost, the red LED lights provide visual feedback on the exact position.
Apart from this novelty, the CMC-TP houses buttons for all major transport functions, including play, stop, record, cycle, fast forward and rewind. Additional buttons for inserting markers, setting the locator range or inserting a new track, to name a few, make the CMC-TP a powerful recording and editing assistant. Best of all, four of its buttons can even hold a second function, which can be freely assigned by the user.
To put it straight, the CMC-TP will truly accelerate your recording and editing workflow, while making project navigation even faster and smoother at the same time.
