Non-destructive Editing
Minnetonka Fast Edit uses a split-screen waveform display for non-destructive editing.
The MODIFY window- All editing takes place in the MODIFY window. Sounds can be copied into the MODIFY window from any number of soundfiles. The original soundfiles are never altered!
The READ ONLY window- Sounds can be previewed from any soundfile on your hard drive or network! All or part of the soundfile in the READ ONLY window can be copied into the MODIFY window.
Ultra-fast cut-and-paste
Cut, paste, copy, and delete functions are extremely fast in Minnetonka Fast Edit
- Select the sound to be cut. It is easy to audition the selected sound.
- Choose "cut" from the Edit Menu, or use the hot-key. The screen redraws quickly.
- Move the edit cursor and click on the "Paste" button. The selected sound has now been moved! Nothing could be faster or easier.
Sample-accurate editing
The waveform-display windows can display large soundfiles, up to hours in length, or can zoom-in to any level of detail, even enough to do editing on single samples!
Overlays
- You can mix any two sounds together using Minnetonka Fast Edit's Mix function. The Mix function makes it a snap to do voice-overs or to add sound effects!
- Select the sound to be layered, from either window. Click on the Copy button.
- Place the edit cursor in the MODIFY window where you want the sound to be mixed in. Select the Mix function, and set the levels on the mix.
The sounds are now layered!
Fade-in and fade-out
- Mark the sound for a fade-out. Select the Fade tool, and perform a fade-out.

Markers
Markers can be placed anywhere within the waveform window. They can also be dropped "on-the-fly" during play and record. You can give the markers names, or allow the program to automatically name the markers in alphabetical order.
Custom fades
You can make up your own fade curves in Minnetonka Fast Edit! Just drop markers at the fade points. Inside the Fade Dialog Box, you set the level at each marker, and select a linear or log fade for each segment. The fade curve that you've created is shown graphically in the Fade Dialog Box.
Edit History
Minnetonka Fast Edit's unique Edit History lets you go back in time! You can return to a previous point in your editing, up to 10 steps back, in effect giving you undo's 10 deep. Or use the Edit History to audition different edits, and keep the one you like best.
Scrub!
Want to find the exact beginning of a sound? SCRUB IT! Minnetonka Fast Edit lets you scrub with the mouse in a way that is fast and intuitive.
Other Tools
Manual Crossfade
Makes it incredibly easy to overlap 2 sounds! The first sound fades out as the second sound fades in. Minnetonka Fast Edit lets you set the overlap time, and lets you select linear or logarithmic fades.
Reversal
Play sounds backwards! Minnetonka Fast Edit lets you reverse part of all of a soundfile.
Gearshift
Remember the varispeed dial on your analog tape deck? Minnetonka Fast Edit give it to you in digital form! Just set the percentage of change, and Minnetonka Fast Edit will speed up or slow down the playback of your soundfile.
Gain Change
Is your recording too loud or too quiet? Just tell Minnetonka Fast Edit how much to change the gain!
Normalize
Give your recordings the maximum punch! Normalize will crank up the volume on your recording as much as possible before clipping.
